8. Killingly's Results on the National Occupational Competency Test
Speaker(s):
Mr. Bob Brennan
Rationale:
Bob Brennan, Killingly High School's School-To-Career Coordinator,
will provide an explanation of Killingly's results on the National
Occupational Competency Test Instrument (NOCTI). NOCTI's job ready
assessments are designed to measure a student's knowledge of basic
processes within a particular field. Students who have earned 2 or more credits in a particular pathway are eligible to take the assessment. Teachers can use the test results to measure curriculum effectiveness, improve instructional methods, better link the world of education with the world of work, and enhance the transition between school and work.
Based on the results (attached) Killingly students rank 11th out of 145 high schools who participated in the assessment. THIS IS CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION!! Our Career Pathway Program is extraordinary and these results demonstrate that. Also attached, please find the Connecticut State Department of Education's Position Statement on the Career Pathways Initiative approved on March 4, 2009. WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK! |
