12.B. Coaching Stipend uncertainty
Description:  This doesn't necessarily have to be a decision made at this meeting but continued discussion is needed on the topic of whether our coaches will be paid their extracurricular stipends if seasons are cancelled.

In the event our seasons are cancelled due to COVID, the question as to whether to pay coaches will need to be answered. I have been doing research at other area schools and have not found any that have said that they will not. The one exception is Villa Grove who initially voted to not pay but reversed their decision a the next meeting. There are plenty of schools still considering a course of action so there may be some that eventually decide to not pay.

I would like to pay our coaches as many of them depend on this extra money to provide for things like child care and heatlh care. Many of our coaches have already lots of time invested in their players already. This is a significant financial hit to most, especially those that coach more than one sport. Our coaches certainly do more than meets the eye and i hope we can reward them for it. I do realize that this is difficult as some coaches do more than others but I believe that we can get creative (as most of our coaches already have) with our coaches responsibilities in order to justify a stipend.
