Discussion:
Putting new legislation and what TASB and TEA request. Changes made on student handbook.
Today legislation went into closed session, so more changes will be added to the handbook. TASB page 1: Rules of school discipline need to be reported to 89th legislation. Page 9: Personal Communication Devices. Students will be disciplined in accordance with the student code of conduct. We can no longer have students pay a $15 fee. Devices are now prohibited from any school campuses. Page 12: no AI is being able to be used in academics. Page 13: First time offense of Possession or use of Nicotine Delivery Product or E-cigarette. A first time offense for in-school suspension for 10 days. Page 13: Students with disabilities. Page 14: ISS will be able to be 10 days. Page 16: Parental Involvement on Behavorial Agreement. Page 17: Routine Referral. Disruption in class. Administrators have the ability to speak to students without the presence of a parent or guardian. Page 17: Formal Teacher Removal. Legislation based on house bill 6. Page 18: Returning a student to the classroom. A student who is formally removed from class by a teacher for conduct against the teacher in the elements of assault (sexual, aggravated, aggravated sexual assault etc.) The student can only return with the teacher written consent. Page: 21: Update on OSS Alternative Assignment. If a parent does not feel they are able to be in relative hours of school hours for the supervision of the student, the parent can request an alternative assignment with adminastration. Page 23: Mandatory Placement of a DAEP. Page 26 DAEP at Capacity Page 33: Discretionary Explusion. Page 34: Expulsion within 300 feet of a school student may be expelled for possession of a firearm. To ensure a safe environment, all students are required to wear their ID above their waist before entering any classroom. ID badges are part of the daily dress code. If a student arrives at school without one, they must go to the office and receive a badge from the office. No sticker badges will be issued. Any lost or damaged ID badges must be replaced promptly. There will be a fee. Page 70-71: Page 77: Grading Guidelines. Students cannot grade other students' assignments. Dr. Sanchez: Cell phones on the policy piece, coaches and fine arts teachers will have a process on cell phones to be able to go out of town. The state of Texas has stated that communication dives and smartwatches are prohibited for students, not staff. |

Discussion:
We will be doing a grand opening on the state-of-the-art-century Welding Shop Center.
It has auto crane, begin learning how to program welding robots. They will be programming plasma tables for different objects and shapes. They have the option for the 3-d certification. This will be able to have up to 250 students. The more students you bring in for level 3-4 classes, the state will give more funding. We added a new welding teacher. With this we were able to get all students from last year that wanted welding. We went from 60 to 100 students. We also are bringing AWS welding instruction in AG. They will be able to build and compete. Business management class. We will be able to do this and also be medical assistants. We are focusing on web design. He is doing independent study in evolving and emergent technology. Practicum in Culinary arts. Offer Junior High CTE courses were students can get CTE high school credit for it. |
