5.1. Employee Recognition – The June 2015 “Above & Beyond” Employee

5.2. Minnesota Department of Education Recognized West Education Center

Description: West Education Center is recognized for successful implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports.

5.3. Abdeljabar Sharif, a student from WALT, who represented Somalia at the model United Nations in New York this year, will share his experiences.

6. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT - (15 minutes) (Information)

6.1. Update on Legislative Session

Description: Mae Hawkins, Executive Director of Business Services, will highlight major items from the Special Legislative Session.

6.2. Appointment of an Interim Special Education Director

Description: The board will be updated on the appointment of an interim special education director for the 2015-16 school year.

7. INSTRUCTIONAL REPORT - (15 minutes) (Information)

7.1. Northern Star Online and the Minnesota Partnership for Collaborative Curriculum

Description: Jon Voss, Director of Teaching & Learning, will present the background and current status of regional and state-wide digital learning initiatives.

8. BUSINESS SERVICES & LABOR RELATIONS REPORT - (60 minutes)

8.1. Financial Report

8.1.1. Approval of Routine Monthly Finance Report (Action)

Description: Mae Hawkins, Executive Director of Business Services will provide an overview of the May 2015 monthly finance reports and the Board will be asked to approve it.

8.1.2. Approval of 2015-16 Original Budget (Action)

Description: Mae Hawkins, Executive Director of Business Services will provide an overview of the Original Budget for the 2015-16 school year.

8.2. Facilities Report - None

8.3. Human Resource Report

8.3.1. Growth in Care & Treatment Programs (Information)

Description: Anne Becker, General Counsel will update the Board on the changes coming in the 2015-16 school year and the implications for hiring.

8.3.2. Probationary Non-Licensed & Elimination of Positions (Resolution)

Description: Michelle Axell, Assistant Director of Human Resources, will present two Resolutions to the Board.

8.3.2.1. Resolution for Termination and Non-Renewal of Probationary Non-Licensed Employees

8.3.2.2. Resolution Pertaining to Elimination of Non-Licensed Positions (Resolution)

8.3.3. Closed Session (Information)

8.3.3.1. Bloomington v. Intermediate District 287

Description: The School Board may hold a closed meeting as permitted by the attorney-client privilege (Minn. Stat. §13D.05, subd. 3(b)) to discuss the lawsuit involving the withdrawal of the Bloomington School District from the Intermediate.

8.3.3.2. Pending or Imminent Litigation

Description: The School Board may hold a closed meeting as permitted by the attorney-client privilege (Minn. Stat. §13D.05, subd. 3(b)) to discuss grievance arbitration.

8.3.3.3. Allegations of Employee Misconduct

Description: The School Board may hold a closed meeting for preliminary consideration of allegations against one or more of its employees. Minnesota Statutes §13D.05, subds. 2(a) and (b).

8.3.3.4. Allegations of Student Misconduct

Description: The School Board may hold a closed meeting, pursuant to Minn. Stat. §13D.05, subd. 2a, to discuss private and/or confidential educational data with its attorney.

Description: Elisabeth Rogers, Executive Director of Educational Programs & Services, will present the new policy as a first read.
