Description:
Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) has awarded Linda Rees, Public Relations Liaison, Award of Merit in the Internal Video Category. Her winning entry, “Follow Me to NEC”, welcomed staff to the 2012-2013 school year as we celebrated the new North Education Center.

6. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT - 20 minutes (Information)

6.1. The iPad Project: TIP the Balance in Autism
Description:
Bennet Johnson will provide an overview of the research he conducted in collaboration with the district. As a member of the Breck Advanced Math Research Team, Bennet worked with North Education Staff to learn about how iPads can benefit students with autism.

6.2. Diploma On! Pilot Project
Description:
Alexia Poppy will present information on the dropout prevention pilot program that began in April 2012 with Brooklyn Center, Hopkins, Osseo, and St. Louis Park school districts. She will present data and trends from the birth of the program until now as well as share upcoming enhancements to the program for summer and 2013-2014 school year. The program has recently been re-named Diploma On!

6.3. Update on Hennepin County Superintendents/Commissioners Meeting
Description:
An update will be provided on the May 31st Hennepin County Superintendent/ Commissioners meeting.

6.4. Minnesota Insurance Scholastic Trust – School District Insurance Pool (Information)
Description:
The district is looking at joining a liability and property insurance pool with several other school districts called Minnesota Insurance Scholastic Trust (MIST). With the idea that at a future date, the district worker’s compensation insurance would be moving to the pool, also. Two advantages of an insurance pool include group purchasing to get better rates and also districts would have more control of the claims process.

7.1. Annual Literacy Report and Spotlight on Instruction
Description:
District literacy leaders Sherry Landrud, Mary Slinde, and Donna Moe will provide an overview of this year’s literacy efforts and student gains. The presentation will culminate with a showing of the annual “spotlight” video, which this year focuses on literacy in the many types of district programs and emphasizes the increasing rigor and academic expectations.

Discuss next steps in Bloomington Public Schools withdrawal from Intermediate District 287. The School Board may hold a closed meeting pursuant to Minn. Stat. §13D.5, subd. 3(c) to develop a plan for evaluation of the district’s real and personal property.
