1. DATES TO REMEMBER
10/19/20 - 7:00 p.m. - Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting followed by Special Meeting in Arrowwood Conference Center 10/26/20 - 7:00 p.m. - Regular Meeting in Arrowwood Conference Center |
2. District Credit Cards
As you recall, in the spring the district switched credit card companies and is now using Chemical Bank. Due to a series of events (the previous cards had not been canceled and one of the new cards was compromised and closed), a subscription was charged to Steve Elliott's old credit card. Accordingly, there will be two board reports for approval of payments at the October 19th meeting. For your convenience copies are attached. As always, the invoices will be paid in a timely manner so as to avoid finance charges, but we wanted to keep you apprised of this situation. |
3. MASB Annual Leadership Conference and Delegate Assembly
The Annual Leadership Conference is fully virtual this year and is free for member districts. The conference is scheduled for November 5 - 7. More information (including registration information) may be found at: https://masb.org/annual-conference.aspx Please let Mary know if you would like to attend the Delegate Assembly. Following is information we received regarding this: MASB's 2020 Delegate Assembly, scheduled for Thursday Nov. 5, will be quite different this year. Given the current environment, it will be held virtually instead of in person just like the rest of the Annual Leadership Conference that weekend.
Participants will be given updates from MASB President Jill Fennessy, Past President Matthew Showalter and Executive Director Don Wotruba, CAE. Additionally, a Q & A session will be held to hear comments and answer member questions.
Typically, those attending as delegates would also vote on MASB's position on issues affecting education. Based on the Association's governing documents, voting cannot be held virtually.
With no voting element, no board action needs to be taken around who attends as delegates and alternates; the assembly is open to all and there is no limit to how many of your board members may attend.
We still do need to know which board members will be attending the meeting on behalf of your district in order for them to receive the access information and to establish quorum. |
4. Enrollment Information
Attached is a spreadsheet with counts from this week of school. The information was pulled from Skyward by mode of instruction (in person and virtual) rather than by enrollment, so there may be a few discrepancies. For comparison there is also a column that includes the unaudited numbers from October, 2019. |
5. Recap/Projects
I visited all of the schools on the first day of in-person learning. I met several times with central office cabinet members and interviewed the new basketball coach. Much of this week was again spent on COVID-related issues and staffing issues. I attended a Thrun webinar regarding COVID reporting. |
