VIII.a.iv. Establish 2024 Board Member Compensation
Description:
Minnesota Statute 123.33 amended in 1973 governs compensation for school board members. The basic components of the law are:
Members and officers of the board shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by the board. The board must vote on the compensation annually (usually at the Organizational Meeting) as it is not automatic. Different or the same salaries may be set for the chairperson, clerk, treasurer and the other members of the board.
Mileage and expenses may be paid in addition to compensation. |

Description:
Current: In accordance with MN Statute 471.59 (Joint Exercise of Powers), delegation of authority is to the Superintendent and the Director of Finance and Operations to enter into Joint Powers purchasing agreements.

VIII.a.ix. Designation of Identified Officials with Authority (IOwA)
Description:
Current: The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requires that school districts annually designate an Identified Official with Authority to comply with the MNIT Enterprise Identity and Access Management Standard which states that all user access rights to Minnesota state systems must be reviewed and recertified at least annually. The Identified Official with Authority will assign job duties and authorize external user's access to MDE secure systems for their local education agency (LEA).
Current: Superintendent to act as the Identified Official with Authority (IOwA) and the Director of technology to act as the IOwA to add and remove names only for Hastings Public School District 0200-01. |
