VII.d. Travel/field trips
Description:
Action as of February 2021: Suspend all out-of-state domestic travel/field trips through August 2021, and all international travel/field trips through August 2022. All domestic travel/field trips beginning September 1, 2021, must include a COVID Mitigation plan. Domestic and International travel trips will be revisited as a board discussion topic at the August 2021 business meeting.
Per discussion at the August 2021 business meeting, the Board will discuss this topic again at the January 2022 meeting. Action taken in February 2021: "A motion to suspend all out-of-state domestic student travel/field trips through August of 2021 and international travel/field trips through August of 2022. All domestic travel/field trip plans beginning September 1, 2021, must include a COVID mitigation plan. Domestic and International trips will be revisited as a board discussion topic at the August 2021 business meeting was made by Becky Beissel and seconded by Stephanie Malm. There was Board discussion about this to clarify that domestic travel refers specifically to the contiguous United States and applies to other activity trips like athletics and marching band. With no further discussion the vote was: 7 ayes, and 0 nays, motion carried unanimously."

Description:
Minnesota Statute 123.33 amended in 1973 governs compensation for school board members. The basic components of the law are:
Members and officers of the board shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by the board. The board must vote the compensation annually (usually at the Organizational Meeting) as it is not automatic. Different or the same salaries may be set for the chairperson, clerk, treasurer and the other members of the board.
Mileage and expenses may be paid in addition to compensation. It is permissible for board members to participate in the district's fringe benefit life insurance. It is the responsibility of the individual board members to make application for participation and to make the arrangements for the payment of the premiums therein required. 2021 Board Compensation: $0.00/yr. 2020 Board Compensation: $4,250.00/yr. |

VIII.a.ix. Designation of Identified Officials with Authority (IOwA)
Description:
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requires that school districts annually designate an Identified Official with Authority to comply with the MNIT Enterprise Identity and Access Management Standard which states that all user access rights to Minnesota state systems must be reviewed and recertified at least annually. The Identified Official with Authority will assign job duties and authorize external user's access to MDE secure systems for their local education agency (LEA).

Description:
The board must by law, designate an official publication for the printing of all required legal documents, such as minutes, bids, and special notices of elections and meetings. It is recommended that the Hastings Journal be designated as the official publication for the 2022 calendar year.
