13. EXTENDED COVID-19 LEARNING PLAN
As outlined in Public Act 149 of 2020, districts are required to create an extended COVID-19 learning plan for the 2020-21 academic year. Michigan legislature passed House Bills 5911, 5912, 5913 (2020) signed by Governor Whitmer on August 20, 2020. Under the new law, in order to receive state aid for the 2020-2021 school year, the District must provide instruction under an extended COVID-19 learning plan that is reauthorized monthly by the Board of Education. Additionally, on March 9, 2021, Governor Whitmer signed into law Public Act 3 of 2021, which requires districts to confirm adherence to the 20-hour per week requirement at each monthly board meeting. Under the new law, in order to be eligible for funding, the District pledges that as of March 22, 2021, the District has offered in-person instruction of at least 20 hours each school week for a 5-school-day school week to all pupils enrolled in the District, regardless of whether or not all pupils enrolled in the District participate in the in-person instruction offered. Administration recommends the Board reauthorize the Walled Lake Schools' Extended COVID-19 Learning Plan plan as presented.
14. RESOLUTION: DUBLIN ELEMENTARY CONSTRUCTION
The Charter Township of White Lake requires that the Walled Lake Schools’ Board of Education authorize a resolution permitting the Superintendent of Schools to sign and execute all easements and other legal documents required for the construction of the new Dublin Elementary School.
15. EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUEST - Memorial Day Parade
For many years, the Walled Lake Schools Transportation Department has participated in the City of Walled Lake’s annual Memorial Day Parade.  A Walled Lake/Dean Transportation bus driver drives a bus in the slow-moving procession while other drivers walk alongside, passing out candy.  This is a nice community event and provides a good public relations opportunity for the District.  This year’s Memorial Day parade is on Monday, May 31, 2021.  Administration supports participation by the Walled Lake Transportation Department and recommends permitting them to use a Walled Lake bus for the parade.  Walled Lake/Dean Transportation employees will donate their time to drive the bus in the parade and clean the bus afterward.
16. BOARD POLICY REGULATION UPDATES
The Board Policy Administrative Regulations fees and fines are reflected in 2001 AR Student Fees, Deposits, Fines and Charges, 7002 AR Fee Schedule School Facilities, and 7002 AR Use of School Facilities Outdoor Center.  Fees have been updated to reflect the rates for the 2021-22 school year. These Board Policy regulations are being submitted as informational items prior to updating the web-based Board Policy Manual.
17. PROCLAMATION: VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION WEEK
While we honor individual volunteers, as well as outstanding staff members through our Golden Apple Award program, we do feel it is appropriate to honor the legions of volunteers we have working throughout the schools each day of the school year. The week of April 19 through April 23, 2021, has been designated as Walled Lake Schools Volunteer Recognition Week.
18. EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION WEEK
Each year in early May, we pause to honor the educational team that serves the students of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District.  Since quality education is a team effort, we honor our employees in all job classifications together during the same week. The week of May 3 -7, 2021, has been designated Walled Lake Schools’ Employee Recognition Week. We’re asking the Board to join in our expression of appreciation to our outstanding employees.
