9. PROCLAMATION: VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION WEEK
While we honor individual volunteers, as well as outstanding staff members through our Golden Apple Award program, we do feel it is appropriate to honor the legions of volunteers we have working throughout the schools each day of the school year. The week of April 20 through April 24, 2020, has been designated as Walled Lake Schools Volunteer Recognition Week.
10. EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION WEEK
Each year in early May, we pause to honor the educational team that serves the students of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District.  Since quality education is a team effort, we honor our employees in all job classifications together during the same week. The week of May 4-8, 2020, has been designated Walled Lake Schools’ Employee Recognition Week. We’re asking the Board to join in our expression of appreciation to our outstanding employees.
11. RESOLUTION: TO AMEND AND RESTATE WLCSD 457 PLAN DOCUMENT
The District’s 457 plan document is being amended as allowed by the Bipartisan American Miners Act of 2019. The changes will allow participants to receive in service withdrawals at age 59 ½ instead of 70 ½, if they choose. The change provides additional flexibility to employees who would like to begin receiving withdrawals from the plan while remaining employed with the district.
12. RESOLUTION- EQUIPMENT INSTALLMENT PURCHASE AGREEMENT
Several maintenance vehicles are in need of replacement and will be financed through an Installment Purchase Agreement which requires approval from the Board of Education.
13. EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUEST - Memorial Day Parade
For many years, the Walled Lake Schools Transportation Department has participated in the City of Walled Lake’s annual Memorial Day Parade.  A Walled Lake/Dean Transportation bus driver drives a bus in the slow-moving procession while other drivers walk alongside passing out candy.  This is a nice community event and provides a good public relations opportunity for the district.  This year’s Memorial Day parade is on Monday, May 25, 2020.  Administration supports participation by the Walled Lake Transportation Department and recommends permitting them to use a Walled Lake bus for the parade.  Walled Lake/Dean employees will donate their time to drive the bus in the parade and clean the bus afterward.
14. BOARD POLICY REVIEW
The Board Policy Committee, Administration, and Mr. Robert Lusk, Lusk Albertson, met and reviewed Walled Lake Schools Board Policy sections: D - Fiscal Management and G - Personnel, that are currently in place to ensure that the new proposed policies stated the intent of the Board. The new proposed policy manual is provided for the Boards review with the anticipated adoption to be presented at a future meeting.
15. BOARD POLICY REGULATION UPDATES
The Board Policy fees and fines reflected in JS-R Student Fees, KG-R 4-5, KG-6-7 Use of School Facilities, and IFCB-R-9,12 and 22 Field Trip Request Forms have been updated to reflect the rates for the 2020-21 school year. CC-R-2-4 Building Administrators have been updated to reflect administrative changes in the District. These Board Policy regulations are being submitted as informational items prior to updating the web-based Board Policy Manual.
