1.C.1. Student Performance – Bountiful High Jazz Combo

Description:
Bountiful High has a rich tradition of Jazz. It first started off as one early morning Jazz ensemble and then grew to having two Jazz ensembles, one during the school day, and one before school. They qualified for State Jazz this year which means they received 2 Superior Ratings at their Region Event. The jazz ensemble is a perennial state qualifier, with 21 state superior ratings in the past 25 years.

1.D.1. 2022 Spelling Bee Winners

Description:
Spelling Bee winners are as follows:
First Place - Brooke Powell - Heritage Elementary Second Place - Colette Duff - Holt Elementary Third Place - Janae Powell - Shoreline Jr. High School The event was held 4/17/2022 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Davis High 58 spellers, across the district, competed in this final spelling bee We went a record 7 rounds! A spell off was then held for 3rd place A spell off was also held for 1st and 2nd place The first and third place winners are sisters! My529 scholarships were awarded to the winners: First place - $2,500, Second place - $1,500.00, and Third place - $1,000.00 Each winner also receiving a beautiful acrylic trophy, medal and spelling bee themed goodie bag. |

1.G.3. Resolution to Create a Local Building Authority (exhibit)

Description:
Board attached for your approval is the resolution to create a Local Building Authority. This is the first step in the process to issue bonds for the purpose of beginning the new elementary school in West Point in the summer of 2022. It is out goal to have the school ready to open by the fall of 2024. In future meetings we will establish bylaws and adopt articles of incorporation for the Local Building Authority. The suggested language for the motion would be, "I move we adopt a resolution providing for the creation of a Local Building Authority by the Board of Education of the Davis school District; and related matter."

1.G.4. New Elementary School One Cm/Gc Selection (exhibit)

Description:
New Elementary School One will be constructed at approximately 400 South 4500 West, West Point. The District Professional Services Selection Committee evaluated proposals, including qualifications, past performance, and project management plans. Construction management fees were also factored into the selection formula. The successful firm will work as a construction manager (Cm) to assist the design team with cost estimates, constructability reviews, and monitor the bid climate. Once plans are complete, the construction manager will change hats and become the general contractor (Gc) and will bid out the project to sub-contractors in July. Construction is anticipated to begin in August and be complete in January 2024.

1.G.5. Viewmont High School Structural Repair (exhibit)

Description:
The restroom adjacent to the gymnasium entry lobby on the north side of the school has sunk. This has caused large cracks in the walls to develop. The floor slab has also sunk several inches which has broken up the tile finishes inside the restroom. The interior will be demolished, and helical piers will be installed under the foundation to lift the settling walls. The space will then prepared to eventually house a Teen Center for Viewmont High. Construction will begin in June and will be complete by August.

1.G.6. Woods Cross High School Tennis Court (exhibit)

Description:
A fifth tennis court will be added at Woods Cross High School adjacent to the existing tennis courts. This will allow the school to better host tennis tournaments. Construction will begin immediately and be completed by August.

1.G.7. Central Davis Junior High Canopy Replacement (exhibit)

Description:
The canopy over the southwest entrance at Central Davis Junior High has deteriorated and is in need of replacement. The existing canopy will be demolished, and a new metal roof will be installed. Work will begin in June with a completion in August.

1.G.8. Catalyst Center GMP Increase (exhibit)

Description:
During construction of the Catalyst Center, several changes were made in the building for the programs taught at the Center. The state-of-the-art Audio/Visual Editing portion of the building required extensive electrical changes to accommodate the equipment used. These electrical changes exceeded the change order contingency built into the contract. The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) will need to be increased.
