VII.B. Approval of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bell County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP), 2018-2019

Description:
Texas Education Code §37.011 requires juvenile boards and independent school district in counties with a population of 125,000 or more to work cooperatively to provide an alternative education program to serve those students who have been expelled from schools. Services are provided through the Bell County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program. Similar to last year’s MOU, students assigned to JJAEP for discretionary expulsions are enrolled at a district cost of $103 per student per enrolled day.

The MOU documents the responsibilities of BSW McLane Children’s Hospital and Temple ISD regarding the education of hospitalized students in grades K-12. Serving hospitalized students is an educational requirement. TISD receives revenue through average daily attendance accounting.
