VIII.B.1. Consideration for Approval of Waiver to Use Alternative Kindergarten and 7th Grade Reading Instrument for the 2020-2021 School Year.
Description:
Due to COVID-19, TEA has allowed the district to request a waiver to use alternative reading instruments for the upcoming school year. Approval of this waiver will allow instructional staff to continue to use the current instruments that better aligns to our remote learning model and will provide more accurate data of our remote learners in the area of reading.

VIII.C.1. Consideration for Approval of 2020-2021 Tax Rate
Description:
The Maintenance & Operation proposed tax rate is $0.9638 and the Debt Service proposed rate is $0.3200. The attached ordinance incorporates the language required or recommended to comply with state law. A public hearing is not required when the adopted rate is less than or equal to the proposed rate when the budget was adopted. Administration is recommending a total tax rate of $1.2838 per $100 valuation, which is
approximately $0.0671 lower than last year’s rate. A copy of the ordinance is included in the board packet. Recommendation: Approve the property tax rate of $0.9638 for Maintenance & Operations and $0.3200 for Debt Service, for a total tax rate of $1.2838 per $100 of valuation.
