Athletic Board Report Updates: Basketball season is in full swing. JH played their first game in Comstock on 11/14. HS played their first games on 11/15. Girls in Carrizo Springs. Boys played Vanguard. Team Goals: Make the playoffs in a very loaded district this season. (It has been 5 years since the boys’ team has made it) 14 wins, would result in a winning record Boys goal- Beat Rocksprings Girls goal is to successfully comprehend basketball and go further in the playoffs than last year. Girls goal - Beat Nueces Canyon Basketball numbers: JH boys-17 JH girls- 18 HS boys- 15 HS girls- 14 We are diving right into basketball. Powerlifting We are still a little early for the powerlifting season but students are starting their weight program. We currently have 4 girl lifters possibly 7 (5 makes a team). Girls are lifting 2x a week and will be adding extra days over Christmas break. Powerlifters will be attending 4 meets this year, the first one being 2/8 in Uvalde. Boys have taken the week off following football season, but will start lifting 4 times a week. Monday and Wednesday in the class period and Tuesday, Thursdays at 7:00am. New information: Coach Rimkus has been in contact with other teams in our district to start building a jh softball program for us. This has been a task for her. There are not many schools with jh programs. So far she has 5-6 games on her schedule and 2 tournaments. One tournament in Three rivers and the second in Knippa. Coach Matter is working on finding jh baseball games as well. There is still time to get this done. The season will not start until the end of March |
