4.A. Consider and Take Action with Respect to Canvassing the May 1, 2021 Board of Trustees Election
 
Description:  The canvass is an official meeting of a political subdivision's governing body for the purpose of making official the results of an election.  Decatur ISD and the Board of Trustees is the political subdivision responsible for the canvassing of a School Board election.  The duty to conduct the canvass is mandatory.

Election Code, Section 67.003 provides that the May 1, 2021 election may be canvassed as early as three days after the election and no later than the 14th day after the election date. 
4.B. Issue Certificate of Election, Administer Statement of Elected Officer, and the Oath of Office
 
Description:   The Certificate of Election, Statement of Elected officer, and Oath of Office will be administered to DISD Trustee Place 5,DISD Trustee Place 6 and DISD Place 7. The trustees elected will serve a term ending in 2024.   The oath will be administered by Terrie Pryor, Notary.
5. Adjourn to Executive Session
6. Reconvene into Open Session
7. Reorganize Board and Elect Officers

TEC 11.061(c) and Policy BDAA (LOCAL) dictate that the Board, in the meeting following any election, must select:
  • A Board President
  • A Board Vice President
  • A Board Secretary

9. Public Forum
Description: 
Persons desiring to address the Board must sign up at the designated time prior to the meeting. Board Policy BED addresses public comment and public testimony at Board meetings. Audience participation at a Board meeting is limited to the public comment portions of the meeting designed for that purpose. At all other times during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by by the Board, unless requested by the presenting officer. No presentation shall exceed three minutes.

10. Adjourn to Executive Session

Description: 

Pursuant to Texas Government Code section 551.074 deliberation regarding Superintendent’s evaluation, duties, responsibilities, employment contract and possible separation agreement.

 

Pursuant to Texas Government Code section 551.071 consultation with attorney regarding legal issues related to Superintendent’s evaluation, duties, responsibilities, employment contract and possible separation agreement.

 

Pursuant to Texas Government Code section 551.074 deliberation regarding possible appointment of interim superintendent, in the event a separation agreement is reached.

 

Pursuant to Texas Government Code section 551.071 consultation with attorney regarding legal issues related to possible appointment of interim superintendent, in the event a separation agreement is reached.

11. Reconvene into Open Session
11.A. Discussion and possible action regarding the Superintendent’s evaluation, duties, responsibilities, employment contract and possible separation agreement.

11.B. In the event a separation agreement is reached, discussion and possible action regarding appointment of interim superintendent.

 

12. Adjournment
Description:  The Board may or may not take action on any agenda item listed. If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the Board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551 Subchapters D and E. Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting. All final votes, actions, or decisions will be taken in open meeting.
