5. Guaranteed Maximum Price for Renovations to DIS for STEM Elementary School
Description:  Piazza Construction received bids on November 10th for the STEM Academy project and the bids were reviewed by Piazza and Corgan.  The District met with both Piazza and Corgan on November 17th to review and discuss alternatives.  The Gross Maximum Price which includes several of the alternatives is $4,896,395.17.  The alternatives that are included are: new LED fixtures in lieu of reusing old lights (an energy savings over time), a new playground, vinyl wall coverings, and full re-roof at all existing TPO areas.

There will be additional costs associated with the project to include professionals fees, technology items, FF&E, various testing and reviews.  These associated costs would bring the total project to just under $5.8 million.  These additional costs are just estimates and we anticipate some of them being less than projected.  An example of this is FF&E.  We have stored most of the furniture from the intermediate school and will use it when the STEM academy is open.  The major furniture will be for the library/commons area and the cafeteria.

DISD intends tyo issue maintenance tax notes for the GMP and fund additional costs with fund balance.
6. Team of Eight Board and Superintendent training, including review of proposed board operating procedures and the form of the Superintendent Evaluation instrument .
7. Adjournment
Description:  The Board may or may not take action on any agenda item listed. If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the Board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551 Subchapters D and E. Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting.
