Description:  Every U.S. Citizen age 18 or older who has resided in the election district or ward for 28 consecutive days before any election where the citizen offers to vote is an eligible elector.

Any U.S. citizen age 18 or older who moves within this state later than 28 days before an election shall vote at his or her previous ward or election district if the person is otherwise qualified. If the elector can comply with the 28 day residence requirement at the new address and is otherwise qualified he or she may vote in the new ward or election district.

Any person attempting to vote at an annual or special meeting may be challenged in accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 120.08(3)

Welcome to the Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting of the Northland Pines School District. We would like to thank you for your attendance. At this meeting, citizens [eligible electors] of the Northland Pines School District make, second and vote on the motions. We have provided possible wording for motions for your consideration, which you will see attached below; hard copies of these motions will be provided at the meeting as well; you will find the motions sheet on the table, as you enter, by the Annual Meeting & Budget Hearing booklet and agendas.

Only certain items require a motion from the floor; those agenda items will be followed by the notation (Motion Required). You will notice other items on the agenda are simply informational, and no motions are required for those items.
 

Description:  No motion required.
Either the Board Clerk records the minutes or the Chairperson appoints a district elector to record the minutes.

Description:  Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) states that the minutes of the meeting as authenticated by the Clerk of the meeting are accorded a presumption of regularity. No approval or amendment of the Clerk's minutes is required.

Description:  Tera Fritz, Business Manager, will present the 2026-2027 proposed budget and tax levy information.

Description:  Business Manager Fritz and DA Duffek may answer questions from eligible electors regarding the proposed budget.

Description:  Note: Board members' current annual salary is $3,600.00 per year, and they are currently reimbursed for school board expenses for travel for their professional duties. This will be on the Annual Meeting agenda each year. The document attached is for your information and shows board member salary comparisons as well as city council and county board salaries.

Description:  The school district would like to continue to lease two spaces to Head Start at Eagle River Elementary School, a classroom and an office space via a lease agreement. Attached for reference is the approved lease from 2025-2026 as well as a clean copy for signature of the 2026-2027 lease agreement.
Notes:
In the lease you will see that in payments it is $1,300 per month (which is $1,200 for the classroom and utilities and $100 for the office space), then we add the cleaning by custodial staff in the amount of $440 per month.
$1,300 + $440 = $1,740 per month, which is the total dollar amount in the proposed motion.

Description:  Note: Some school districts do their Annual Meeting & Budget Hearing earlier in the year and some do them later. The state of Wisconsin does not give school districts final budget numbers until mid-October. Northland Pines School District holds the Annual Meeting & Budget Hearing on the 4th Monday in September in order to have the most accurate numbers possible to share.
