Description:
Valdez High School senior Erik Vincent has been selected as one of two students representing the State of Alaska in the highly competitive United States Senate Youth Program. This prestigious, merit-based program brings together 104 top student leaders from across the nation for an intensive week in Washington, D.C., where participants engage with Senate leadership, federal officials, and national leaders while deepening their understanding of the American political process. Each delegate is also awarded a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship! Erik is the first student from Valdez ever chosen for this honor!!! Valdez City Schools proudly recognizes Erik Vincent for this exceptional achievement and for representing our district, community, and rural Alaskan students at the national level.

Description:
Our adopted rules of Parliamentary Procedure, Robert’s Rules, provide for a consent agenda listing several items for approval of the Board by a single motion. Most of the items listed under the consent agenda have gone through Board subcommittee review and recommendation. Documentation concerning these items has been provided to all board members and the public in advance to assure an extensive and thorough review. Items may be removed from the consent agenda and placed under new business at the request of any board member.

J.1. Go Into Executive Session
Description:
Executive Session: The board reserves the right to enter into executive session on any agenda item as provided for in State law. Executive sessions will be entered into by motion and approved by a majority of the Board for discussion of the following subjects as permitted by law: (1) Matters, the immediate knowledge of which would clearly have an adverse effect upon the finances of the District; (2) Subjects that tend to prejudice the reputation and character of any person, provided that the person may request a public discussion; ( 3) Matters which, by law, municipal charter, or ordinance, are required to be confidential. Motions to go into executive session should specify the subject of the proposed executive session without defeating the purpose of addressing the subject in private. |
