Public Hearing to Discuss the Proposed 2026-2027 Riesel Independent School District Budget and Proposed 2026 Tax Rate

The Board of Trustees will conduct a public hearing to discuss the proposed 2026-2027 District budget and the proposed 2026 property tax rate and to receive public comment.

TAXPAYER IMPACT STATEMENT
Pursuant to Texas Government Code §551.043(c)(2)

Riesel Independent School District encompasses property located in both McLennan County and Falls County. Because median-valued homestead information is calculated separately by each appraisal district, the taxpayer impact for each county is presented separately in Exhibit A

3. Discuss changes and impact to local, state and federal funding for the 2026-2027 school year.

4. Consider and possible approval of 2025-2026 Budget Amendments

5. Consider and Take Possible Action to Adopt the Riesel Independent School District 2026–2027 Budget.

6. Consider and Take Possible Action to Approve the 2026 Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate of $0.666900 per $100 of Taxable Value.

7. Consider and Take Possible Action to Approve the 2026 Interest and Sinking Fund Tax Rate of $0.342558 per $100 of Taxable Value.

8. Consider and Take Possible Action to Adopt a Resolution/Order Setting the Riesel Independent School District 2026 Property Tax Rate at $1.009458 per $100 of Taxable Value, Consisting of a Maintenance and Operations Rate of $0.666900 and an Interest and Sinking Fund Rate of $0.342558.

9. Public comment

Description:

The board encourages comments from citizens. Anyone wishing to speak, either as an individual or as a representative of a group, may do so at this time. The Board asks that the discussion pertain to public education issues and be 3 minutes in length. Please reserve comments relating to personnel for discussion with the appropriate district supervisor. The Board must not discuss subjects presented in public comment. The Board may respond in two ways:
a. A statement of specific factual information given in response to an inquiry
b. A recitation of existing policy in response to an inquiry

Any deliberation of a decision that a subject shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on the agenda or a subsequent meeting; Texas Gov't Code 551.042
