This is a time of "listening" by the school board. |

The technical updates for policy 417 CHEMICAL USE AND ABUSE are: removing the duplicate phrase in IV. C. and adding one word in the Cross Reference Section. Since the updates are minor, this policy will require only one reading and final approval.We last reviewed and approved this policy on September 23, 2024. It had the technical change in October 2025 by MSBA.

Policy 418 was last approved on June 23, 2025 using the 06-04-24 revision. However, MN Statute was updated in the 2025 legislative session. The policy now reflects those changes put into Statute in the later half of 2025.
418.1, Drug-Free Workplace_Drug-Free School Acknowledgment Form is new. This will be incorporated as part of the update policy 418. We will do three readings and the both would be up for tentative approval at the January 26, 2026 board meeting. |

This policy was last reviewed and approved on December 16, 2024 with a revision date of January 2, 2022. MSBA provided a Oct. 15, 2025 technical revision to update our policy. In section III A, changes noted are in regards to Statute 260E 22 , Subd 2. the next change is in Section C where outdated language is replaced.

VIII.H. First and Final reading of Policy 601, School District and Instruction Goals. (Action) (Attachment)

The purpose of this policy is to establish broad curriculum parameters for the school district that encompass the Minnesota Standards and federal law and are aligned with comprehensive achievement and civic readiness. We last adopted this policy on June 23, 2025 with a revision date of May 30, 2024. This will require a single reading with minor changes that was in an October 15, 2025 MSBA update with minor technical changes. .

Policy 616 was last reviewed and approved on Nov. 25, 2024 with a revision date of June 1, 2024. On October 15, 2025 MSBA released a revision with technical updates. Due to this and with Tim Tydlacka being new the Policy committee recommends three readings to allow Administation adequate time to review, especially Section IV. D. 5. It contains a minor update removing outdated language in section IV. C. 2 and eliminates one of the Cross References.

VIII.N. First Reading of Policy 621, Literacy and the READ Act. (Attachment)

Policy 621, Literacy and the READ Act is new to BOLD. This was identified as a need due to the legislative enactments recently and the Policy Committee queried Tim Tydlacka on adding, which he agreed was needed. We will have three readings with a tentative adoption by the board at the March 23, 2026 board meeting.
