August 19, 2026 at 6:00 PM - PAEC Governing Board Meeting

The Finance Committee met on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The following items were discussed:

• Treasurer’s Report (July 2026) - The committee reviewed the Treasurer’s Report for July, including an overview of revenues, expenditures, and fund balances.
• Proposed FY2027 Budget - The committee reviewed the proposed FY2027 budget and discussed the budget projections for the upcoming fiscal year.
• FY2027 Geothermal Project Invoice -  The committee discussed the geothermal project costs for FY2027. Because the project is expected to be completed at the beginning of FY2027, full payment from the member districts is needed immediately to ensure PAEC has the funds available to meet the project’s payment obligations. Each member district has received an invoice showing its respective portion of the geothermal project costs.  
• Audit Update — An update was provided regarding the FY2026 audit. Final fieldwork dates have been scheduled for October 19, 2026, and November 6, 2026.
• Finance Committee Meeting Schedule — Future meeting dates were discussed, and the committee agreed to meet quarterly throughout the school year to review financial matters, budget updates, and other items as needed.

1)      The Governing Board approved the Resolution to Transfer Funds.

2)      The Governing Board approved the installation payment for the geothermal construction project.

3)      The Governing Board approved the lease of the PAEC High School gym to be used when the facilities at Proviso High School are not available.

4)      PAEC, at the direction of both Boards, have created an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy department. "It is a scientific approach to understanding learning and behavior." This will start with 1-2 Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBTs) and a part-time Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). BCBAs "promote positive behavioral changes and often specialize in autism, developmental disabilities, and brain injuries." RBTs assist the BCBAs by carrying out the methods of intervention. The department staff will start in D#87 and will expand from there into the other elementary districts.
