Legislative Advocacy:
Day on the Hill
Jan 27 @7:30 am-1:30 pm: Day on the Hill
You’ll get an invitation with details in early January.
Push Pause Initiative: USBA is pushing the idea that there are too many bills being directed at education. We are going to raise awareness to this and ask the legislature to push pause on education legislation in 2025.
Fill the Room Initiative: The education community is upping its game with advocacy at the legislative level. Here are some highlights:
At the conference, you can sign up to get notifications of calls to action.
There will be a google doc where you can sign up to go to committee meetings.
Master Board Certification: Those who have completed their certification will get their names put in a drawing for gift cards at the conference.
New Board Member Institute: Happened last week and was a huge success.
State Board Committees: There was a discussion about how important it is for us to know and have a relationship with our state board members. They are not understanding the importance of local control and can use our influence.
Evaluation Development: The evaluation team has made huge strides on evaluations including a rubric. I think the outcome is going to be really great and a huge tool for us. It is close to being finished.
