Description:  The Banks School District Board of Directors welcomes the public to our February 21st, 2024 Regular Business Meeting.  The Board appreciates your participation in the education of our students and welcomes your continued engagement. 

Description:  Our High School Life Skills class has started a new coffee cart business called Braves Beans. Each morning staff across the district can place an order for coffees, teas and other specialty drinks which will be delivered by a Life Skills student. This new business is a great opportunity for students to learn about entrepreneurial and customer service skills. 

Description:  The meeting will now be open to receive public comment. The Board appreciates community members sharing information during public comments. The Board will listen, and possibly ask clarifying questions but generally will not comment on information we hear from the audience.  However, following the meeting, the chair, vice chair and superintendent will together determine the appropriate response.  The response may be in a public way, a private way or the issue will be added to a future board meeting or work session agenda.  Please note that speakers will have five minutes to express their thoughts.

Description:  The Board will hear the Superintendent's February 2024 Report as well as a brief Fiscal update.  Board members should ask clarifying questions if needed. 

Description:  Approval is needed for the district to add a bank account.  This bank account will be used for the Lifeskills classroom to operate the coffee cart, related purchases, as well as the potential to facilitate electronic payments for other school activities. 

Description:  The board will receive notification of the NREN Grant for up to $96,260.

Description:  Vernonia does not offer soccer. They have one boys soccer player that would like to play with us. We would like to afford this young man the opportunity to play soccer.

Description:  The Board will review the first reading of the proposed 2024-24 District Calendar.

Description:  The Board has reviewed the 2024-25 Budget Calendar, BES Fence Proposal, Resolution #FEB232401 and the Early Literacy Grant.  It is recommended that the Board approve the Action items as presented.  

Description:  The Board will review the 24-25 Budget Calendar.  It is recommended that the Board makes a motion to approve the 24-25 Budget calendar. 

Description:  The Board has reviewed information on the Banks Elementary area fencing proposal.  It is recommended that the Board approves the proposal as presented. 

Description:  The Board will hear a presentation on the district's Early Literacy Grant.  It is recommended that the Board makes a motion to approve the grant.
