This amendment covers adjustments that include an additional electric meter bill for the WILD, Skyward migration, and increase in ADA/Special Education funding. If approved, this would also include the additional FTE expenses.
|
6.a)4) Discuss and Consider Resolution for Good Cause Exemption
Description:
House Bill 3 requires school districts to provide a commissioned peace officer on each campus. Because Godley ISD, like most school districts in the state, will not have the ability to comply with this new unfunded mandate, we are requesting the board approve the Resolution for Good Cause Exemption due to the lack of funding and qualified personnel. Godley ISD will continue to use officers from Godley ISD Police Department and school guardians to provide armed security.
|
6.a)5) Approve Resolution Naming 10 Non-Business Days for the 2025 calendar year
Description:
Complying with the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) requires adherence to timelines that reference "business day," but no formal meaning had ever been established before the last legislative session. With the passing of HB3033, there is now a formal definition of the meaning by clarifying business days. These are days other than weekends, state and national holidays. HB3033 gives districts the option to designate up to an additional 10 nonbusiness days per calendar year on which administrative offices are closed or operating with minimum staffing to help meet the deadlines under the PIA. The dates selected reflect times at or near extended closures, which will help us meet our deadlines. These days must be approved by the board of trustees.
|
6.b) Consider Approval of Additional FTEs
Description:
Consider Approval of Additional FTE for Instructional Support due to the increased enrollment of the district that is over initial projections. Specifically, we are asking for 3 new FTEs (ECSE Teacher, ECSE Para, 1-1 Para) and a salary position adjustment (change position from para to teacher) to support Special Education within the district, along with hiring authority for Superintendent.
|
6.c) Consider Adoption of Hill College Tax Rate
Description:
Consider adoption of the Hill College - Godley ISD Property Tax Rate for 2024. The notice was published by Hill College at the Voter Approval Tax Rate of $0.023218/$100, with the No New Revenue Rate of $0.021355/$100. The 2023 rate was $0.023605/$100.
|
6.d) First Review of Godley ISD's District Improvement Plan
Description:
Following a comprehensive needs assessment, a review of Board goals, and Title 1 requirements the district administrative team has decided to focus on these three goals for the 2024-2025 school year. Each goal is tied to our CBAS pillars and identified areas of need. These high-level goals will cover a wide range of strategies and activities, and we feel that achieving these goals will positively impact the district. |
6.e) Discuss and Consider the Resolution for Culture of Voting
Description:
Public schools are called to produce good citizens. Texas law requires school districts to educate students about voting and the electoral process and to make voter registration applications available for eligible students. We believe public schools can play a foundational role in cultivating informed citizens. As a school district, we can promote and protect a culture of voting not only with our students, but with our employees and community as well.
|
6.f) Discuss and Consider the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) Members for the 2024-2025 School Year
Description:
The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is a group of individuals representing segments of the community, appointed by the school district to serve at the district level, to provide advice to the district on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student health and learning. SHACs provide an efficient, effective structure for creating and implementing age-appropriate, sequential health education programs, and early intervention and prevention strategies that can easily be supported by local families and community stakeholders.
