VIII.E.1. 2335 Health Enhancement Education (New)
Description:
This policy is due to SB 1308 and HB 666, which were signed into law this year. The former requires districts to provide information on adoption alongside and sex education they provide. The latter prohibits the district from using sex education materials or instruction provided by an abortion provider. These edits also remove some non-required practices relating to HIV prevention and replace some optional portions on instruction and out HIV/AIDS with instruction on sexually transmitted infections more generally. Some materials on sex education were removed from policy 2340, placed in this policy for improved clarity and usability, and supplemented with additional options for the district's approach to teaching about abstinence. This is a required policy.
