1. Revision to BP 5111 Admission
Description:
This policy update reflects current statutory rules on when a student may begin school, based on their age at admission. It also includes the statutory provision stating that students who are suspended or expelled are not guaranteed admission.

2. BP 0000 Concepts and Roles
Description:
This policy was missed when migrating to Policy Online and is being re-added. The committee will consider adopting the language in the AASB model policy to replace the old SSD policy.

3. BP 6151 Class Size (ADOPT)
Description:
This new policy establishes the class size requirement provisions that districts must create under HB 57.

4. AR 1250 Volunteer Assistance (ADOPT)
Description:
This regulation provides the procedures for approving members of the public to serve as volunteers, including chaperones.

5. AR 5128 Alaska Performance Scholarship Program
Description:
The committee will consider replacing the current SSD AR 5128 Alaska Performance Scholarship Program with the AASB Model AR 5128.

6. BP 6179 Childcare and Development Programs (ADOPT)

7. BP and AR 4180 Residency and Remote Work (ADOPT)
Description:
This policy formally establishes that employees may be permitted to work remotely, if permitted by the District.
Related to the above policy, administrative regulation (AR) provides rules for employees who are working remotely. It may be modified to fit individual district needs. |
8. AR 1260 Visits to the Schools (ADOPT)
Description:
This new administrative regulation provides a model regulation for appropriate conduct on school grounds. It provides that visitors must comply with applicable rules, laws, and regulations, and that they may be subject to both short and long-term removal if conduct does not meet these standards.

10. BP 4133 Travel Expenses
Description:
The board will update this BP to reflect current SSD per diem rates.

11. BP-5138 Student Possession and Use of Portable Electronic Devices, Including Cellular Phones_ (Revision)
Description:
This policy makes a number of changes to the model cell phone policy, in light of HB 57. It provides districts several options on how to regulate cell phones in schools, and provides clarifying definitions.
Policy regarding cell phone use will vary by district needs and intentions, and district policy should be updated as desired. |
