Rationale:
Ms. Pezza, Director of Curriculum, will provide an overview to the Board on the Common Core State Standards and the Smarter Balanced Assessments, including recent developments in implementation. Board members will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

9.1. Second Warning/Adoption of MBA Math and SHS English Textbooks
Rationale:
The Curriculum Committee has reviewed the requests for MBA Math texts and SHS English texts and presented them to the board as a first warning on 5/13/13. Adoption is now requested by the board.

Rationale:
A special meeting took place before the BOE meeting to discuss the appointment of a new BOE member to fill the current vacancy.

9.3. Approval of SES Classroom Renovation Bid
Rationale:
We have concluded the bid process for the Somers Elementary School Kindergarten classroom renovation. The bids will be shared with the board for their perusal. It is the superintendent's recommendation that the board vote to accept the bid presented by the company Design to Finish which is considerably lower than all others.

11.1. SES Principal Search Update
Rationale:
The superintendent will update the BOE on the status of the SES Principal search.

11.2. NCCC Principals and Athletic Directors League Website
Rationale:
The NCCC Principals and Athletic Directors would like to develop a league website that would accomplish the following: 1. Link to the CIAC website and each school's sports page 2. Contain up-to-date standings 3. Link to news stories (online newspapers, etc) 4. List All NCCC athletes 5. Directions to all NCCC sites 6. History of NCCC playoffs/champions 7. Links to any appropriate league statistics 8. Link to any CIAC online videos Most conferences have websites already in place. We are one of the few who do not. The website would generate advertising revenue from approved companies that would be equally distributed amongst the teams and used to pay various conference fees. |
