Rationale:
Main Street Grant Foundation has approved $2,550.00 in funds for Bristol Early Childhood Center (BECC) and Bristol PK classrooms at Ivy Drive, Mountain View, Hubbell, South Side and Greene Hills. These funds will be utilized for in-house field trips as well as consumable items.

10.1. Healthy Food Certification Statement

Rationale:
The Board of Education has previously voted to participate in the Healthy Food Certification Compliance Act. Each year the district must certify full compliance with the program which means that the Board of Education “will exclude from certification food items that do not meet the Connecticut Nutrition Standards, provided that (1) such food is sold in connection with an event occurring after the end of the regular school day or on the weekend, (2) such sale is at the location of the event, and (3) such food is not sold from a vending machine or school store. This year, we will receive approximately $41,000 in reimbursements from the State of Connecticut as a result of our participation in this program. Requested approval by the Board of Education is for the 2018-2019 school year. The Food Services budget for 2017-2018 includes anticipated revenue of $41,000 from the State. |

10.2. High School Graduation Date and End of Year Closing Date

Traditionally the closing day of school has been set at the April meeting along with the high school graduation date. Promotional exercises at the middle schools take place in the morning of the last day of school, Wednesday, June 20, 2018. High school graduation will be scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
