7.2. Grant
|
7.2.a. United Way Grant in Collaboration with the Bristol Community Organization
Rationale:
Bristol FRC’s in collaboration with The Bristol Community Organization is applying for a $25,000 (per year for 3 years) grant from United Way to provide Ages & Stages Screenings (ASQ) to approximately 150 children ages birth to five served by the FRCs and BCO. FRC Staff will conduct Ages & Stages screenings at the FRC and at BCO. The ASQ is designed to screen children for developmental delays during the critical first 5 years of life. The ASQ is completed by the parent and a certified FRC Parent Educator who reviews their child’s development across these developmental domains: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social. The Parent Educator scores the ASQ and reviews findings with the parent and makes appropriate referrals and recommendations to the parent. The ASQ has high reliability and validity with strong evidence supporting it as an effective early detection tool. The grant request is for $25,000 and will be divided between the agencies as 70% to FRCs ($17,500) and 30% to BCO. If funded, United Way would disburse fund to BCO as the official 501(c)3 agency partner. BCO will remit payment to the BOE, on a monthly basis to cover the FRC responsibilities/cost under this grant for fiscal year July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013. |

|
9.3. Bristol Central High School Mission Statement Approval
Rationale:
Bristol Central High School will be undergoing its decennial accreditation review with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in the Spring of 2014. In accordance with NEASC standards, high schools must have an ongoing process to review and amend its mission statement and learning expectations. With the input of Bristol Central faculty, students and parents, we have created these new statements to reflect the 21st century learning expectations contained in the seven NEASC accreditation standards. We present them this evening for your review.

9.6. Curriculum Revision
|
9.6.a. AP Calculus - Second Presentation
Rationale:
In previous years, AP Calculus AB/BC has been offered to a couple of students as an independent study. We now have enough students to run at least one section in Bristol. As a result, a plan was made to create an up-to-date, high-quality mathematics curriculum for this course. The AP Calculus AB/BC curriculum is to provide consistent district-wide implementation of the BOE approved curriculum as we increase the availability of AP Calculus AB/BC. This curriculum is aligned to the College Board guidelines to ensure student access to the AP exam and course credit. Current state and national standards are not provided for this level of mathematics. The document submitted here is based on work by AP teachers Benjamin Oksanen, David Bittel and Marlene Lovanio.
