Rationale:
The attached grant is submitted for approval. This grant is in addition to Title III funding that the district receives to provide support to our English Language Learners. 6.1. High School Program of Studies for 2012-2013
Rationale:
Each year, the Board of Education reviews proposed changes to the high school program of studies booklet and approves those changes. Three new courses are included in the 2012-2013 Program of Studies. These are the AVID elective course (page 19), Microeconomics Advanced Placement (page 64), and Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (page 51). For the Microeconomics course and the Advanced Mathematical Decision Making course, the curricula are being developed now and will be presented to the Student Achievement Committee and the full Board of Education later in the school year. The descriptions of these courses must be included in the Program of Studies now in order for students to select these courses for the 2012-2013 school year.

6.2. Schedule of Board of Education Meetings for the 2012 Calendar Year
Rationale:
In accordance with Section 1-21 of the Connecticut General Statutes and in keeping with Board of Education policy, a schedule of Board of Education meeting dates for the 2012 calendar year is required by the Town and City Clerk. Board of Education meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month* at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Board of Education Administration Building, 129 Church Street Bristol, Connecticut. *except July, August and September

7.1. Safe School Climate Plan - Regulation 5131.911 - First Reading
Rationale:
Public Act 11-232 was approved by the Connecticut Legislature effective July 1, 2011. One component of this legislation requires adoption of a District Safe School Climate Plan to address bullying. Following Board approval of the District Plan, schools will create individual Safe School Climate Plans and appoint a Safe School Climate Coordinator. A meeting of all Safe School Climate Coordinators will be held at least twice annually to review both the school plans and data regarding incidents of bullying. Staff training in the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program is on-going. The cost of training over a 3 year period is $3,800 per school [Yr 1 - $2,000, Yr 2 - $1,000, Yr 3 - $800, totaling $53,200. The State has only made 3 training slots available to the district each year for the past 4 years
