Rationale:  PROJECT AWARE is an annual competitive mini-grant project through which Bristol Youth Services funds public and private non-profit agencies to implement program that are complementary to the mission and goals of Bristol Youth Services. Fifteen to twenty (15-20) programs each year are designed to fill the gaps in services or enhance existing services to promote the healthy functioning of youth and family.

Rationale:  The Superintendent will present the proposed budget for the Bristol Public Schools for the 2010-2011 School Year. This Budget was prepared by the Administration and the Finance Committee of the Board of Education.

Rationale:  Elementary parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, March 30 (evening), Wednesday, March 31 (afternoon) and Thursday, April 1 (evening). The Board voted to approve these dates at the 4/1/2009 Board meeting. Because Friday, April 2 is a holiday and school is not in session, we need to change the schedule for parent-teacher conferences.  We are proposing that elementary parent-teacher conferences be rescheduled to Monday, March 29 (evening), Tuesday, March 30 (afternoon) and Wednesday, March 31 (evening).

Rationale: 

The high school art curriculum was last revised in 1991.

• Since that time, the CT Standards have been revised. The curriculum needed to be revised to align with the CT Standards.
• In all levels of art instruction students regularly write responsive pieces: the curriculum needed to reflect this aspect of art instruction.
• The curriculum needed to be aligned vertically with the middle school art curriculum, which was revised in 2007.
• Art History needed to be incorporated into all levels of the art curriculum.
• Technology Literacy/Digital Art: the curriculum needed to reflect the integration of digital technologies.
