Description:
Three public comments were received via email related to agenda items. Those emails are included as attachments.
Members of the public may speak during this portion of the meeting. Comments are limited to five minutes. Board members will not respond to public comments or questions during "Public Comments". Should total Public Comments approach or exceed a cumulative time of 30 minutes, the Board may suspend additional Public Comments until immediately prior to the Board and Superintendent Comments portion of the agenda. |
4. Action: Consent Agenda Items
Description:
Board Policy 2:220 The President shall designate a portion of the agenda as a consent agenda for those items that usually do not require extensive discussion before Board action. Upon the request of any Board member, an item will be withdrawn from the consent agenda and placed on the regular agenda for independent consideration. |

Description:

Welcome back to Collette Oprondek, who will serve as the new Assistant Principal at Broadmeadow beginning later this semester. Mrs. Oprondek holds an MEd in School Leadership from UIUC and a BS in Elementary Education from Valparaiso. This is Mrs. Oprondek’s 21st year in education. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, she served RCS as the instructional coach for Eastlawn Elementary for two years. The bulk of her career has been as a classroom teacher serving in Mahomet Seymour SD, Wood Dale SD7, Cass SD 63, and the Archdiocese of Chicago. Outside of work, she is a mom of three active kids (Norah, Claire, and Charlie). She and her husband have been married for 15 years. As a family, they enjoy traveling, eating, playing games, doing puzzles and watching their kids at their various sporting and dance events. According to Mrs. Oprondek, "I am excited to return to RCS and work with the knowledgeable and dedicated staff and get to know all of the families."

Description:
Verbatim records, which constitute the audio recordings of closed sessions, are subject to destruction once those recordings are 18 months old. The minutes of these meetings remain on file.

Description:
A log of closed session meetings and topics is attached. The Board is approving that these closed session minutes, which have been approved previously (December 14, 2023 to be approved this evening), are maintained as confidential.

6. Action: Resolution to Enter into Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract.
Description:
The Board is asked to approve the Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract with WIER for $112,675.47. RCS may qualify for rebates of up to $20,500. This project is to convert the electrical fixtures to LED and upgrade energy control in the space leased by RCS at 1 Aviation Center Drive. It is projected that the energy savings costs for this project will "pay back" in three to six years. This project followed the required process for an RFP (Request for Proposal).

12. Closed Session: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees
Description:
The Board will move to closed session for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or specific volunteers of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or a volunteer of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. However, a meeting to consider an increase in compensation to a specific employee of a public body that is subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act may not be closed and shall be open to the public and posted and held in accordance with this Act. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). |
