Members of the Killingly community are encouraged to share their thoughts with the Board of Education and are invited to do so during this segment of the meeting. When appropriate to do so, members of the Board and the administration may respond to comments. However, in consideration of those in attendance and in an effort to proceed in a timely manner, follow-up discussion may need to take place outside of the meeting setting.

5. Recognition of KHS Teacher, Mr. Jim Hutson

Rationale:
TSA (Technology Student Association) DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD is presented to an individual who has provided valued service to TSA and who has been responsible for the continued growth and success of TSA. Both past and current contributions are considered. Mr. James Hutson, KHS's technology teacher received this national award in the later part of June 2016. The TSA criteria for this award are: 1. Association of affiliation with TSA in some capacity for a minimum of three years 2. Active participation in TSA through attendance at TSA conferences, membership on TSA committees, judging of student events 3. Involvement with advancing TSA as evidenced by work in professional education groups, publications, research, etc. 4. High Standards of achievement through such endeavors as the establishment of new TSA chapters; TSA program expansion or innovation; or oversight of student members who have achieved prominence and distinction 5. Recognition of fellow professionals as indicated by similar awards from local, districts, state or regional groups.

Rationale:
If there are no objections, the following dates are Killingly Board of Education meetings for the 2017 - 2018 school year. All meetings are anticipated to take place at the Killingly Town Hall, 172 Main St., Killingly, CT 06239 and will commence at 7:00 p.m. Dates will be reviewed again in the Spring for the opportunity to revise IF needed. Board meetings from January 2017 through June 2017 were approved by the board last year. 7.E. Appointment of Delegate to CABE Delegate Assembly

Rationale:
This action is necessary should the board want to appoint a voting delegate to the Delegate Assembly at the CABE/Capss Convention. The Assembly is held the day before the convention starts which would be Thursday, November 17. In the past, the board has also selected an alternative.

Prior to the Delegate Assembly, members of CABE boards receive a copy of proposed NEW resolutions. Modifications are proposed, and some resolutions are recommended for deletion. The list of resolutions is attached. Resolutions can be discussed so you can give guidance to our appointed delegate,and alternate delegate, so they may best represent the views of the board. |
