4. Closeout Project #069-061CV, KHS Asbestos Removal
Speaker(s):

Bradford Thompson
Rationale:
The committee will be meeting on Monday to review the textbook: World Geography and Cultures (Glencoe, 2008) Grade 9

6. High School Building Project Update
Speaker(s):
Joe Costa, Fletcher-Thompson
Rationale:
The Design Development phase of the project is now complete (except for the estimate, due next week). Although the PBC has not yet authorized Fletcher Thompson to move forward with the Construction Document development phase, it is appropriate for the Board to review the plans as they now stand. Numerous small changes to both the site and the building have been made as a result of on-going meetings with school staff and feedback from the PBC, Gilbane and town staff. Joe Costa, the principal in charge of the project, will review the status of the design and respond to any questions. He requests that you bring the Schematic Design Manual with you to the meeting.

7. Discussion/Action on School Security
Speaker(s):
William Silver
Rationale:
The Board received the SafirRosetti school security report at their June meeting. In order to have some of the no-cost recommendations in place at the start of school and to start the process for implementing the short-range recommendations, administration is recommending the actions presented in the attachment.

8. Communications Committee Report and Recommendation
Speaker(s):
Nelson King
Rationale:
The ad hoc Communications Subcommittee (Buzz King, chair, Gail Oakley-Pratt, Maryellen Johnson) interviewed three firms to develop and implement the district's communication plan, in accordance with our Board goals. After much discussion, the committee recommends First Experience Communications. First Experience Communications proposed the attached contract back in May; it is anticipated that the specific content will be renegotiated after further direct discussion with the committee.
