Rationale:
In our previous regulation, there was a prohibition of parents driving students to and from field trips and other athletic events. This has been a problem due to bus shortages. It allows parents to list the individuals they consent to transport their child.

1.B. Policy/Regulation 4111 - Recruitment and Selection
Rationale:
As part of our overall policy review, we have begun to look at the 4000 series personnel. This policy was originally developed under the No Child Left Behind Act. Many of the suggested changes involve the elimination of language. The regulation was also updated to reflect current practice.

Rationale:
There are no real changes to this policy or regulation. Much of the information is subject to state and federal law. I am consulting with Rebecca Santiago, our District Attorney, to see if the regulation should be deleted?

Rationale:
This policy is reviewed as part of the 4000 Series, Personnel. There are some minor suggestions for changes and comments on areas needed to be discussed.

2.A. Policy 6144.1 - Curricular Exemptions

Rationale:
This policy was tabled at the last committee meeting to allow time to read the changes.
This policy was recommended by Shipman and Goodwin it replaced the current policy. It sets the legal parameters for a parent's ability to request a curriculum exemption. The law allows for five (5) areas in which they can apply for curriculum exemptions and a process to do so.
