March 3, 2022 at 6:30 PM - Board of Education Policy Committee Meeting

Rationale:  The Central Office staff had an opportunity to revise the district organizational chart.   This chart is meant to provide an overview of the lines of responsibility within the Bethel Public Schools.  This is a regulation and does not require approval.  

Rationale:  This policy is being reviewed as part of the 2000 series.  There are no recommended changes by the administration.  

Policy 2130 Job Descriptions

Rationale:  Policy 2131 and Regulation 2131, Superintendent of Schools, is being reviewed as part of the 200 Series.  There are a couple of minor suggestions for consideration.   

Rationale:  This policy is being reviewed as part of the 2000 series.  This policy outlines the process the Board of Education undertakes when hiring the Superintendent of Schools.  There are some minor changes for consideration.  

Policy 2141 Recruitment and Retention of the Superintendent of Schools

Rationale:  This policy is being reviewed as part of the 2000 series.  While there are no recommended changes to the policy, the Board should be aware that this process is outlined in the Superintendent's contract.  

Policy 2142 Evaluation of the Superintendent 

Rationale:  This policy was reviewed as part of the 1000 series.  There were no recommended changes. 

Policy 1416 Fiscal Authorities 

*This policy was tabled in committee at the November meeting and needs to go to the Board for a first reading. The committee wanted the chair present for the recommendation.

Rationale:  This policy concludes our review of the 1000 series.  There were no recommended changes.   We had Mr. Troetti, the Commander and Master Sergeant review the language in the context of the NJROTC.    

Policy 1700 - Otherwise Lawful Possession of Firearms on School Property

Rationale:  This policy is being reviewed as part of a general review of all policies within the 2000 series.   There are some minor recommended adjustments made to the policy.  

Policy 2000 - Concept and Roles in Administration

Rationale:  The policy was updated as part of our review of the 2000 series.  There were some minor adjustments to the policy based on feedback from our attorney at Shipman and Goodwin.   


Policy 2111 - Equal Employment Opportunity

Rationale:  Policy 2112 - Professional Learning

Rationale:  The administration is recommending the deletion of Policy 2013.  With the change in federal legislation, the BOE updated the Title IX policy which already addresses grievances and therefore is redundant.
