Rationale: 

The US World and News Report just released their 2021 rankings of High Schools.  We were notified that we were moved into the Top 50 in CT (#47).   We were 53 last year.  This is quite an honor.  

 

 

Rationale:

Rationale: 

Presentation of Award Certificates:

The CABE Student Leadership Awards are given to recognize student achievement and potential.  These students were picked from among their peers for exhibiting leadership qualities as defined by the criteria developed by CABE.  The Board recognizes the level of achievement of these students.

The Board would like to congratulate the following students on receiving the CABE Student Leadership Award for 2021:

The WCSA Superintendent Awards are given to recognize middle and high school students based on:

• community service and service to others;
• academic prowess; and,
• leadership service to the school community.

The Board would like to congratulate the following students on receiving the WCSA Superintendent Award - (Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents) for 2021:

Rationale:  As has been previously discussed, the instructional models and school schedules we have adopted this year have caused us to "rethink" the school day and schedules. As a result, both the middle school and high school have worked with their school based teams to capitalize on what has worked to create new schedules for the 2021-2022 school year.  Mr. Watson and Mr. Troetti will be presenting, for your information, those schedules.  Included in the discussion is a rationale for the adjustments.  

Rationale:  (Please note:  The Board welcomes Public Participation and asks that speakers please limit their comments to 2 minutes.  Speakers may offer objective comments of school operations and programs that concern them.  The Board will not permit any expression of personal complaints or defamatory comments about Board of Education personnel and students, nor against any person connected with the Bethel Public School System.)

Rationale:  For the Board’s information, the Board will be presented with a listing of teachers who have completed the requirements to be granted tenure in the Bethel Public Schools.

As part of our overall policy review, as has been previously communicated, we are starting with review of all policies in the 1000 series.  This policy was last reviewed in 2010 and sets the frame for community relationships with the Board and district.  Upon review of the policy, I have made some suggested changes and comments regarding the clarity of some of the statements.   This is the second reading.  

 

Policy 1000:  Community Relations:  Concepts, Goals and Roles in Community Relations

Rationale: 

This policy is included in our overall review of the 1000 series.  The policy was last reviewed in 2010.  The policy primarily speaks to the posting of meetings and community participation in the process.  Some minor changes were suggested.  This is the second reading.

Rationale: 

This policy is being reviewed as an overall review of the 1000 series.  This policy was last updated in 2002.  Comments and suggested revisions were made for your consideration.
