1. Policy/Regulation 6154 - Homework/Make-Up Work
Rationale:
Dr. Brooks organized a committee of teachers and administrators to research effective homework practices and make suggested recommendations to district policy. The committee work included:
Because the changes from our original policy were so significant, it was too confusing to track change. We have included the old policy for your information. |
2. Policy XX - Civility/Respectful Communications and Actions
Rationale:
In our discussion at the last policy meeting related to non-discrimination, the Board asked the administration to obtain samples of polices relating to civility and respectful communication and actions. We contacted Shipman and Goodwin and were able to obtain the attached policy for discussion. The policy addresses standards of communications, examples of disruptive communications and actions and broad consequences for those actions.

3. Policy 1112 - News Media Relationships
Rationale:
The Board of Education currently does not have a policy regarding New Media Relationships. In the attached packet are several sample policies from CABE to consider and a version from Waterbury Public Schools. As a committee we should determine which sample or combination of samples is appropriate for the Bethel Public Schools. All sample policies address access to the schools and guidelines or expectations for the media.
