1. Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) update
Rationale:
Share the vision for the NGSS~ prepare students for life, college, careers, and global competiveness.
Explain the development of the NGSS and Connecticut’s involvement in their development. Ms. Kechejian, our instructional coach, consulted regularly with the SDE in the development of these standards.
Share an overview of the NGSS~ focus on the science practices (i.e. defining problems, developing and using models, analyzing and interpreting data, engaging in argument using evidence…), engineering, and technology.
Bethel High School would like to organize a trip to Paris, Normandy, Brittany, and Barcelona for those students interested in the study of world history, culture, language, art, cuisine, and architecture.
We will continue to use the same tour company, Education First Tours, which has been organizing student tours for the last 45 years. We have used this company since 1998.
The dates of the 11 day trip would be July 25, 2016 through August 5, 2016.
The cost of the trip for our students will be approximately $3,978 per student, which is an all-inclusive coverage plan (covering round trip airfare, transfers from airport to hotel, hotels, continental breakfast and dinner every day, guided tours, full-time service of an Education First Tour Director, cruises, trains, or ferries as specified, museum entrance fees, and insurance).
The goal is to have 36 students and 6 chaperones for the trip.
Summer 2016 curriculum work will be done to either revise existing curriculum and/or assessments or to create curriculum for new courses. A listing of the summer curriculum work is below:
