3. Public Hearing on Italy ISD Schools Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) Accountability Rating for 2015-2016

3.A. The Texas Education Agency developed the Schools FIRST (Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas) accountability system for the Texas school districts in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999. The primary goal of Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts' financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas' school finance system.

3.B. Italy ISD's rating for 2015-2016 - Italy ISD received a rating of "A - Superior", which is the highest
rating assigned by the State of Texas. The district scored 88 out of 100 possible points. This is the
tenth year in a row that Italy ISD has achieved a Superior rating.
