V.4.d. Mineral Tracker Report for Quarter 4 2023
Description:
Over the past quarter, we saw an increase in the post-production deductions that the oil companies are charging against the School District’s royalties. These deductions are typically to account for transportation and marketing fees, but have become a hot-button issue for mineral owners over the past several years. In 2023Q1, the MCSD had 13% of it’s royalties deducted. In 2023Q4, those deductions grew to 21%. Notably, Hess deducted 39% of it’s last check. Grayson Mill had traditionally charged very low deductions, averaging 3%, until this past quarter where they averaged 18% deducted.
