The Alexandria Township Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters. Thus, the Board shall set aside two twenty minute periods for public comment each meeting.  In order to permit the fair and orderly expression of such comment, public participation shall be governed by the following rules:

1.  A participant must be recognized by the presiding officer and must preface comments by announcing his/her name, place of residence, and group affiliation, if appropriate.
2.  Each statement made by a participant shall be limited to 3 minutes in duration.
3.  No participant may speak on the same topic until all others who wish to speak on that topic have been heard.
4.  All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no participant may address Board members individually.

13.A.1) Financial Reports
Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, that the Board approve the transfers for the months ending June 30, 2023 as submitted by the Superintendent, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:22-8-2.

to accept the monthly financial reports of the Board Secretary and the Treasurer of School Moneys for the month ending June 30, 2023  in compliance with N.J.A.C.6:20-2.13(3) that the Board of Education certify that no major account or fund has been overexpended and that as of this report sufficient funds are available to meet the District's financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools that the Board accept the certification of the School Business Administrator, as required by N.J.A.C.6:20-2.13(D), that no line item account has been over expended as of June 30, 2023, and that as of this date sufficient funds are available to meet the District's financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Motion to approve the following Schedule B appointments for the 2023-24 school year:

13.C.2) Curriculum Writing
Motion to approve the following staff for Curriculum Writing at $45 per hour:
Matt Hoyda - Gifted & Talented  -  8 hours

13.C.3) Motion to approve the following staff for 3 hours Gifted and Talented Professional Development on August 9, 2023 at a rate of $45 per hour:

13.C.6) Motion to accept the resignation of Ginger Crawford, Secretary to the Principal effective July 31, 2023.

13.C.7) Motion to approve Ginger Crawford, Data Collections Specialist at a salary of $53,000 effective August 1, 2023.

13.C.8) Motion to approve the following staff to assist with Curriculum for New Teacher Orientation on August 21, 22, and 23 at a rate of $45 per hour.

13.C.9) Motion to approve 60 sick days from the Alexandria Township Education Association Sick Bank for a staff member whose name is on file in the Business Office.  This employee's resignation letter has been submitted and the exact date will be determined by NJ Division of Pensions, is tentatively expected in December 2023.

13.C.11) Motion to accept a letter of resignation from Erin Kelly effective June 30, 2023.

13.C.12) Motion to approve Danielle Lindsay, 1st Grade Teacher, BA Step 10 at a salary of $73,105.

13.D. Travel and Related Expenses
Resolved upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board approve the following mileage reimbursement requests in accordance with the School District Accountability Act.  Only overnight stays are eligible for meal reimbursement.  Mileage, meals and lodging shall be in accordance with NJ Statues, Code, and NJ Department of Treasury Guidelines.  OMB Mileage Reimbursement Rate is $0.47.

DeSapio Construction - labor/material for softball/baseball fields. The contract will be increased by $33,362.33.
DeSapio Construction - labor/material for concrete sidewalks in rear parking lot. The contract will be increased by $36,224.27.

13.F.3) Motion to approve a Special Education Out of District Transportation Contract as follows for a student whose name is on file in the Business Office:

13.F.4) Clinton Township Tuition Contract
Resolved upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board approve a Tuition Agreement for educational services with Clinton Township Board of Education for a student whose name is on file in the Business Office.  Services shall commence on July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 at a tuition rate based on the estimated cost per pupil of $49,336.36, Teacher Asst. - $31,643.30, Teacher Asst. Benefits - $13,669.12, Teacher Assistant Taxes $2,420.71.   Total $97,069.50

Resolved upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board approve the following changes to the 2023/2024 School Calendar:
March 15, 2024 Professional Development Day moved to August 30, 2023
March 15, 2024 will operate on a regular schedule
August 31, 2023 First Day for Students
