On behalf of fellow Board members, I would like to invite any member of the audience with comments about items of interest or concern that do or do not appear on the agenda this evening to speak. If you are appearing virtually, please begin by stating your name and address. It would be appreciated if you would limit your comments to three minutes so that we can keep the meeting moving in a timely fashion and allow others an opportunity to speak. We ask that you remember that Wisconsin law prohibits us from discussing specific employees or their job performance. You may also send an email to me at aaron.dunn@mp.k12.wi.us prior to the meeting. VI.1. 21.22 Seclusion and Restraint Report
Description:
Seclusion and Restraint Every year by October 1, all school districts in the state of Wisconsin must report to their respective boards a report on the number of incidents that involve seclusion and physical restraint. The Mineral Point School District currently has two employees (Angela Klein and Justin Leonard) that are certified trainers for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Any staff member may receive training that will either refresh or recertify their skills in using the techniques for NVCI. This report will break down which building any incidents took place in, and if the incident involved a student with or without a disability. The report is attached to Board Book for you to review. Angela Klein will be present to answer any questions you may have, but please be mindful of the nature of the material in the report. Questions that could potentially identify a student will not be answered. District recommends approval.

VI.2. Approval of purchase in excess of $10K
- SEL curriculum for Elementary
Description:
SEL Guidance Curriculum - purchase over $10,000. Work on selecting this particular curriculum started with Wednesday PLC time. The Pupil Services team was working to align the standards and expectations for our students to the American School Counselor Association and DPI standards. Because we are planning to use ESSER funds to purchase the curriculum, the offerings must be evidence-based. This means that there is scientific evidence through studies. The DPI has a list of evidence-based materials. The elementary was able to get a 60-day trial last spring and our guidance counselor partnered with classroom teachers to pilot the curriculum and gather feedback on its effectiveness. Because it is a digital curriculum the company is able to make updates to the resources, which are immediately available to us. Another benefit of this resource is that it provides screeners and recommendations for interventions that will further promote small group instruction. Instruction is possible through multiple staff members allowing for additional instruction to take place. The material is laid out in such a way that several staff could present it to their students at the same time. This curriculum is a 3-year agreement for the elementary school building. District recommends approval. Again, it will be paid for with ESSER III money and is part of the 20% holdback for social and emotional learning. I had put aside money for this purchase in our ESSER budget after discussions with Angela Klein last spring. |
