Description:
The Highland Park Independent School District is required to hold a public hearing before adopting the general fund budget and the debt service budget and before adopting property tax rates for the 2024-25 school year.
In accordance with the Texas Comptroller's of Public Accounts, "Truth-in-Taxation", a school district must publish a "Notice of Public Meeting to Discuss Budget and Proposed Tax Rate" in a local newspaper. The notice must appear in the newspaper no later than 10 days or earlier than 30 days before the date of the public meeting. This year's notice is attached.

11.D. Pay Resolution for Weather Closure - May 28, 2024
Description:
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the following campuses were without electricity for the day due to the storms that passed through the area: Bradfield ES, Highland Park MS, Hyer ES, McCulloch IS, and University Park ES. Staff from these campuses who were scheduled to work on this day were asked not to report to work by their supervisors. We ask the Board of Trustees to review and approve the Resolution of the Board Regarding Wage Payments during Emergency School Closing to pay those employees affected by the campus closures.

11.H. HPISD - Sports Club Promissory Note Agreement
Description:
District administration is working with the HPISD Sports Club leadership team for the purchase and installation of a new scoreboard system at Highlander Stadium. The current scoreboard model is no longer serviced by the vendor and is antiquated by current scoreboard standards. The Sports Club is committed to the purchase of the scoreboard with sponsorship revenues over a five year period. HPISD will provide $500,000 to the Sports Club, and the Sports Club will repay the loan with annual payments over a five year period. Administration recommends that the Board delegate authority to the Superintendent to approve and execute a promissory note per the above terms with the HPISD Sports Club.

Description:
The Armstrong PTA is donating funds to re-sod the small field. If approved, this project will begin on June 1, with a completion date of August 1.

11.K. Capital Improvement: UP Elementary Playground Turf Addition
Description:
UP PTA is donating funds to extend the turf on the playground to address the issue of mud forming in that area. This project would begin at the end of the school year and should be completed within one month.

Description:
The recommendation is that the Highland Park Independent School District Board of Trustees approves the adoption of the Proposed Amended General Fund Budget for the 2023-24 school year.
The Proposed Amended General Fund budget for 2023-24 is included.

Description:
