Description:  Members of the public wanting to provide public comment during a Regular Board Meeting should send
their comments by email to chris.green@albany.k12.or.us. Comments must be received by noon on the
date of the Regular Board Meeting. Comments must be limited in length to be read in 3 minutes.
Comments will be read by the Board Chair or Vice Chair during the "Comments from the Public" time on
the agenda.
E. BUDGET HEARING
As per ORS 294.453 the governing body must hold a budget hearing on the date specified in the public notice to receive citizen's testimony on the budget.

Description:  At their last budget meeting, the GAPS budget committee approved the budget for the 21-22 Fiscal Year as presented by staff.  At the June 28th Board Meeting, the board will have the opportunity to have further discussions over the budget and to vote on it as well.  However, according to local budget law we are required to have a public hearing where members of the public have the opportunity to comment on the budget that has been proposed and approved by the budget committee, which is what this portion of the meeting is for.  Those wishing to provide public comment should have done so by noon today.

It there are no comments - move on with the rest of the meeting.

F.1. Teacher of the Year Recognition - Rachelle Bell/Central

Description:  Central Elementary 3rd Grade teacher Rachelle Bell was named Linn Benton Lincoln’s 2022 Regional Teacher of the Year! Ms. Bell wins a $500 cash prize and is in the running for Oregon’s 2022 Teacher of the Year, to be announced this fall, as one of 16 regional winners.

K.2. Authorizing Resolution - Sale of Marion St Property

Description:   At this time, staff recommends the Board declare the Marion Street property is not needed for school purposes and is available for sale or transfer.  This will enable staff to advertise the property and collect offers for consideration by the Board at a later date.

N.2. Insurance Renewals

Description: 

Greater Albany is insured for Property, Liability, Automobile, and Crime through PACE. The Oregon School Boards Association and the Special Districts Association of Oregon formed PACE in 2006 and it is currently the only insurer available for school districts in the state.

As a result of large losses nationally and within the program rates generally increased a minimum of 17% over last year (Page 4). As a result of the overall increase; Greater Albany bringing on additional square footage (exposure) our overall premium increased by 22.79%, or $139,172 (Page 6).

Greater Albany is insured for Workers Compensation through SAIF Corporation. Rates will increase 6.8%, ($23,028) primarily as a result of the school district's experience rating increasing from 1.00 to 1.11 (1.0 representing average).

Staff recommends the Board select PACE as the School District's carrier for Property, Liability, Automobile, and Crime coverage and SAIF Corporation as its Worker's Compensation carrier.

N.3. Curriculum Adoptions
