V. COMPUTATIONAL THINKING FOR MATH CREDIT
Description:
When we first added Computational Thinking, we added it as an elective credit as that was where all our computer science courses were categorized at the time. DPI subsequently provided a framework for reviewing computer science courses for math credit and we have added semester length mathematics classes in Introduction to Statistics and Discrete Mathematics that could be combined with Computational Thinking for a year's credit. The Mathematics Department is recommending we award math credit for computational thinking and I have reviewed the DPI criteria and our course meets criteria. Erin Schroeder will be joining us to speak on this request. This could be an action item if you approve.
