February 25, 2020 at 5:30 PM - Board Workshop Meeting

Description:  At Tuesday's workshop the objective by the end of the night is to jointly construct 3-4 possible pathways (options) for how to combine the facility variables that we presented at the February Board Meeting.  We will start the night with an affirmation of guiding principles we have used to lead this work, provide an example of how we define a "pathway", look for your input into how to narrow the number of variables, so we can focus on creating 3-4 possible pathways that each meet our needs in a different manner and at a different cost point.

Additionally, I have asked EUA and Vogel to look at a few options that you have not seen, yet, most notably the cost of moving the current middle school offices out of the center of the building and creating an office / secure entry in a new location.

On a related note, I have been working with the EUA and Vogel team and we have reviewed the use of space at the middle school and how it reflects current building capacity.  I am also working on a historical narrative of that building to share with you.

To develop the pathways at this meeting, we will be working off of an executable spreadsheet that will allow us to "toggle" which variables we want included in a given pathway.  The spreadsheet will total the cost of the variables that we choose and we can see the impact of our choices in real time.  Our goal is to create multiple pathways that we can then use to begin development of a community survey in order to solicit feedback on our options, variables, and concepts.

The documents that will be used for the workshop on Tuesday, will not be complete until sometime on Monday.  Once I have reviewed them with the Vogel and EUA team, I will share them with you at that time.

I look forward to working with the Board at this workshop.  I am optimistic that we will begin to create some clarity to the options we want to explore further.
