Description:  We may have some parents speak at Public Comments on various policy issues.

Description:  Attached is Policy 751 Rule 1 -- Student Transportation Services and an e-mail from a parent whose children are Open Enrolled from Madison.   The parent is requesting that we change our policy to allow for transportation of her children from her home.

The Committee previously reviewed this policy and requested that administration bring back language that would allow a pathway for this parent's request to be considered.

The following underlined language has been added to the policy for your discussion and consideration:

6.  Non-Resident Transportation

A.   The district shall not provide transportation of nonresident students who are accepted under the open enrollment program with the exception of CWD students as outlined in their IEP, and for students who qualify for and follow the procedures and approvals outlined in paragraph 6B of this policy. Transportation shall be provided by the parent to and from the assigned school. Parents may contract with the district for transportation services from a scheduled district bus stop

B.  A non-resident open enrolled student may request transportation services in writing to the district administrator or designee and may be granted approval,  if:

The residence is located on an existing Waunakee Community School District bus route.

Approval is granted by the resident school board for the non-resident district to provide transportation to and/or from the designated residence.  (Per Wisconsin State Statute 121.54(10))

If the residence is located in a location that is approved as a safe pick-up and drop-off location, as determined by the non-resident district bus company.

Description:  The following policies are being presented for consideration / revision by Kurt Eley and Chris Mand and are related to the work within the Student Services Department.  Kurt and Chris will be present at the meeting present these policy documents to you and to describe the changes and rationale.

Description:  The attached spreadsheet lists policies in the 100 series (old and new) in numerical order and the action that is requested per each policy.  You may review the new or amended policies in the 2nd attachment

Mike Brandt and I will walk the committee through the process we followed for our review of these policies.  Mike and I reviewed each policy along with the commentary and recommendations by the WASB (Dan Mallin), and then made decisions on how to move them forward to the Committee for review.
