IV. REVIEW POLICY 751 RULE 1
Description:
Attached is Policy 751 Rule 1 -- Student Transportation Services and an e-mail from a parent whose children are Open Enrolled from Madison. The parent is requesting that we change our policy to allow for transportation of her children from her home.
Our policy language related to this issue reads as follows: 6. Non-Resident Transportation A. The district shall not provide transportation of nonresident students who are accepted under the open enrollment program with the exception of CWD students as outlined in their IEP. Transportation shall be provided by the parent to and from the assigned school. Parents may contract with the district for transportation services from a scheduled district bus stop. If you take a look at the map, attached, you will see that her home is in the City of Madison and is associated with the Madison Metropolitan School District. Per our policy, we do provide transportation from a scheduled Waunakee bus stop -- also shown on the map. Administration does not recommend that we change our policy to pick up her children from her home as picking up students in another school district requires approval by that district. It also opens the door for us needing to allow other school districts to pick up students within our boundaries, of which we are not in favor.

IV.A. REVEIW AND CONSIDER UPDATE TO POLICY 423
Description:
The only change to this policy is to clarify the typo that exists in the paragraph related to revoking open enrollment for truancy. The change reflects that a recommendation to revoke open enrollment for truancy needs to go to the Board for consideration and approval.

V. REVIEW AND CONSIDER WASB POLICY REVISIONS -- 110 - 154 BOARD RULE 1
Description:
The attached spreadsheet lists policies in the 100 series (old and new) in numerical order and the action that is requested per each policy. You may review the new or amended policies in the attachment found in the "extras" tab.
You may also review the old policies as they are linked on our website. The link to the current 100 series can also be found in the extras tab. Mike Brandt and I will walk the committee through the process we followed for our review of these policies. Mike and I reviewed each policy along with the commentary and recommendations by the WASB (Dan Mallin), and then made decisions on how to move them forward to the Committee for review. We are about half way through the 100 series of policies, of which are on the agenda for your consideration, and we will complete the second half of the 100 series policies so the Committee can review them in mid-January. We will not move the policies to the full board until after the January Policy Committee meets, as we can then take the full 100 series to the Board for consideration. We appreciate your patience in advance as we forward these policies to the committee. There will be some trial and error for how best to present these bulk policies to you in an efficient and effective manner.
