June 20, 2018 at 7:30 AM - Co-Curricular Committee Meeting

Description:   Aaron May and Jen Lockman are in the process of completing the Co-Curricular Report for 2017-2018.  The report is not available as of the released time for BoardBook as Aaron and Jen have been focusing on soccer, lacrosse, and baseball that have each gone deep into the playoffs this spring.  The report will be complete next week and we will send it to you via e-mail or bring it to the meeting for presentation and discussion.  Sorry that this is not complete in time for you to more thoroughly review prior to the meeting.

Aaron and I have discussed the concept of presenting this report in two segments -- fall activities and spring activities.  We can discuss this option at the meeting.  Aaron's concern is the completeness of information at that time of the year (December/January) by the booster clubs, and the timing of a report in December/January being when winter sports are in full swing.

Aaron is also considering what data is of most important, from his perspective, when developing and sharing a monitoring report to you.  I would like to discuss the content and timing of the report with the committee.

Description:  Attached please find additional language Aaron May would like to add to the co-curricular code regarding the situation where a student is not cooperative or deceptive in the drug testing protocol.  We do not have language to this effect in the code and given a situation this year we would like to cover this in writing for the future.

Description:  Attached please find proposed language changes that Aaron May is recommending to the middle school co-curricular code, many of which are meant to line up more closely with the high school code language.

Description:  Aaron May will share with the committee a request from a parent to have student fees to co-curricular events be assessed .  There is not currently a written request for this item, but Aaron would like to be proactive and have a discussion with the committee.  No action is needed.

Description:  Aaron May will share information regarding a request to start a dance team at the middle school.  Attached is the proposal.  Marcy Peters-Felice is supportive of this request.

Description:  Attached please find three new club/organization requests.  Brian Kersten will be present at the meeting to represent these proposals and to provide background.
